I was an adult before it occurred to me that everyone is creative. Not just that, but we all must exercise our creativity in some way to feel happy. I certainly never felt artistically talented in any way. I believed it when my 7 year old self was told that "no one in our family is artistic, and it was no surprise" that I wasn't either...
Somewhere along the line, I experienced the blissful, focused, meditative state that happens while engrossed in a project. Academic pursuits are good for that (not always blissful though). But making stuff is so much more sweet and juicy! Jewelry, sewing, gardens, tasty treats, scrapbook pages, home decor - all stuff that's fun for me to delve into. Don't get me wrong, I'm no domestic diva, but I'm willing to try almost anything!
Anyway, I'm thrifty and I long for a unique, attractive and glam-cozy house. Fixing up other people's old "junk" is the natural outcome of my love of getting lost in an experimental project that costs next to nothing and might make my house look special or make me a few greenbacks.
My hope for this blog is that it will be a way for me to connect with other people. As a stay-at-home-mom in a new town, I'm looking for an outlet. Hopefully it will keep me busy out of trouble in a way that remote control robot dinosaurs, Dr. Seuss, and 50 piece puzzles just cannot :)
